Are you curious about how professional drain cleaning works?

Matt’s Plumbing services will use professional tools to get your kitchen, bathroom, bathtub, shower, and toilet drains all cleared. Plumbers have the tools and latest tech to tackle clogged drains or a clogged sewer line.

Man On Knee

After a Tampa drain cleaning plumber arrives at your home they’ll do an inspection of your clogged drain. This involves sending a video camera scope down into the drain. There’s a light on the end so everything can be seen. This enables the plumber to see exactly where the clog is at. They can also discern if the clog is from hair, an object, or from something else.

If there is something else physically wrong with your pipes, such as a leak inside your walls, they’ll be able to diagnose that issue, without having to take all your walls apart to find it.

The next step involves clearing the clogged drains. The plumber will use a long skinny flexible auger down the drain. This has a sharp end, like a drill, that can break up and shred debris in your clogged sewer line. The snake gets threaded down into the drain until it reaches the clog. There is also the additional bonus in the snake being able to clear away grease and mineral buildup on the pipes too.

Some video inspection equipment may also have a hydro jetting tool on it. At the tip are highly-pressurized jets. These blasts hot water at 8000 PSI to the obstruction in the drain. Often this method may be done first, as it poses less risk to your drains. This also has the benefit of cleaning your pipes too.

There are also motorized snakes for tougher clogged drains. These have a drill that mechanically rotates and can push a hole through that clog. This will then allow the rest of the clog to break up and be pushed along. This type of router can even shred and break up solid objects, such a tree branches and roots—but your pipes will need repairs too.

Plumbers have a wide range of tools at hand.

If they can’t clear your clog with the pressurized jets or snake, they’ll use the more powerful motorized auger.
